Experts have been piecing together the dinosaur Dippy before his public display at the only Scotland stop on the UK tour.
This 21.3-meter-long diplodocus skeleton from the Natural History Museum in London arrived at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow after crossing the Irish Sea earlier this month.
Experts are now disassembling the structure of 292 bones and performing a huge puzzle to put the dinosaurs back together.
“This tour of Scotland discussed the creation of the NHM Dippy cast for the first time, and is the perfect destination to reflect on Dippy’s so far inspiring many people to explore their natural world.
“We hope that visitors to Glasgow Dippy will be equally attracted by this Jurassic ambassador.”
Before arriving in Glasgow, Dippy exhibited in Belfast and took the ferry to Scotland with 16 custom crates.
Glasgow Life Chairman David MacDonald said: “Dibby is here. The excitement is beyond words. Like thousands of other tourists, I am delighted to have the opportunity to see this impressive creature take shape before my eyes.
“It is great to see the skilled team of the Natural History Museum bring Dippy to life in Glasgow. We look forward to welcoming his many avid fans to the Kelvingrove Museum in the coming months.”
After leaving Glasgow, Dippy will visit Newcastle, Cardiff, Rochdale and Norwich on the tour that will end in October next year.
